UHY Hacker Young

A brand refresh for one of the UK’s leading accountants.

The Challenge

Part of a global network of chartered accountants, UHY Hacker Young is an ambitious firm with 27 offices across the UK. Combining traditional values with forward thinking, in recent years they’ve rapidly grown to be ranked 15th largest in the UK – but their branding needed to move with the times, even though a new identity had been introduced less than five years ago, with collateral such as newsletters, ads and reports being produced independently by various parts of the business.

What we did
  • Strategic planning
  • Branding
  • Design

The Solution

While retaining much of the rebrand the client had invested in previously, Thrive’s designers set about refreshing the look and feel within existing guidelines. Using the same colours and typefaces, the team energised the UHY Hacker Young look, giving it a more contemporary feel and exploring photography use and layout styles to make communications more readable. An existing suite of icons representing different functions and areas of the business was also reviewed and updated, making them softer and easier to understand, with a ‘pixel effect’ unifying every element of the refresh.

The Results

The client is delighted with how Thrive’s designs have achieved so much without major investment in new branding, and the look is currently being rolled out across various materials.
