Bringing a fresh look to the frozen food specialist.

The Challenge

Iceland is one of the UK’s most prominent high street names, long-known for its specialisation in frozen foods. In recent years their sector has become even more competitive with the rise of discount chains such as Aldi and Lidl. As a result, Iceland has been testing several new concept stores that include innovative digital point-of-sale amongst other features – and they chose to make the most of Thrive’s digital experience.

The Solution

With a variety of digital spaces available, from long, landscape formats above the freezer cabinets to portrait window displays, they can be used for promoting particular brands, suggesting recipe ideas or highlighting promotional offers. Making the most of the digital capabilities needs a different approach from traditional POS though, treating them more like online display ads to create movement and interest to get the message across – Thrive’s experience combining with our in-house animation expertise to produce a range of fast-moving displays that shifted product almost as quickly!
