Educating students about making more of their campus

The Challenge

In 2017, Manchester Metropolitan University decided to introduce a raft of additional benefits for people using its Cheshire Campus in Crewe. The aim? To encourage every student to stay on after the day’s lectures have finished, use the wide array of facilities and make the most of their campus. Having worked with students on-site to come up with a range of benefits that would prove popular, MMU then worked with Thrive to get their message across.

The Solution

For Thrive the key was to highlight the pluses of staying on campus – literally. Creating a theme of ‘Cheshire Campus+’ and the concept of ‘additional reasons to make more of your campus’, Thrive came up with a series of visuals for each of the benefits based around a ‘+’ symbol. These were produced as posters for around the campus, social media posts and even turned into a short animated video to be played on the digital screens in the Student Union – getting students talking and highlighting the many reasons to stay around MMU Crewe.

The Results

So far the results have been equally positive! Student take-up of various benefits has more than fulfilled expectations, and the general mood on Crewe campus has improved too.
